Reid, | James - 1914-1918 | 130 | East Street | Sapper | Royal Engineers |
Reid, Thomas - 1st. August 1921 - Caretaker of Comber Orange Hall - Was shot dead by a sentry whilst driving past the Ulster Specials Camp in his motor car, he did not hear the sentrys challenge due to the noise of his car. ....
Reid, Mrs. Elizabeth - 1943 - Of John Street
wrote the following poem
Dr.Wrights Memorial Band, I have marked it as the best,
And at the sports on saturday, For charity did its best
First came Johnny Mathers, Looking neat and smart,
And the way he waved the pole about, I'm sure it thrilled your heart
The reason i write this poem, Is all the players to
mention,
So first in line of pipers, Are, Majury, Robinson and Thompson
Whether this poem will rhyme or not, Is the thing
that worries me,
But next came two good pipers, McCullough and Low-ry
McConnell and McGimpsey, no better pipers could be
found,
And walking right beside them, Is piper Robert Brown
Frank Majury plays the bass drum, while on his left
and right,
Tenor drummers Hull and Walker, They are a glorious sight
Jackie Reid the leading drummer, Seemed at his very
best,
While McIlroy and Geordie Reid, Came with honours through the test.
