1939 - WW2 - Capt. J.H.Dougan of "Edenvale" Newtownards joined the army in 1915 and commissioned to the 10th. Royal Irish Fusiliers and served with the Ulster Division in France and was wounded. After demobilisation he was appointed District Inspector of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Birr, Kings County. He entered the civil service in 1922 and is now Minister of Labour at Stormont
